No welding or bed removal is required for the installation, its designed to install easily underneath the bed of the truck, and bolts directly into the frame with no drilling on most applications. The hitch does require a 4 inch hole in the bed for the ball to come through and requires some drilling. The flexible latch pin handle attached to a spring-loaded, 5/8" steel locking pin that goes completely through the ball for extra assurance and safety.
